hate to state the obvious, but it can't be pressure or anything related to science or theology. the fact that 87% of kindergardeners got it means it can't be that complicated. what kind of 5 year old is going to say "well in my opinion the correct answer to this riddle is pressure due to the fact that when a polar bear is born, its skin color is determined by the elements and wind pressure surrounding him..."

everyone is obviously thinking way too hard.
